LATTICE Partners with CAST for IP Cores
CAST, Inc., Founding Member of Lattice's ispLeverCORETM™ Connection
Program, Optimizes Their IP Cores for Lattice's ispXPGATM™ and ORCA® FPGA/FPSC
Devices
September 02, 2003, HILLSBORO, OR - Lattice Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: LSCC) today announced that semiconductor intellectual
property (IP) provider CAST, Inc. is a founding member of Lattice's ispLeverCORE Connection IP
partners program.
The new program gives Lattice customers easy, reliable access to third-party IP products optimized
for Lattice programmable logic devices (PLDs) that complement Lattice's internally developed and
supported ispLeverCORE IP solutions. Information about several CAST processor, interface, and
communications cores is already available through the ispLeverCORE website. Each core has undergone
Lattice's acceptance process, and implementation results for different Lattice devices are
available.
"Lattice is pleased to partner with CAST, an IP pioneer known for its dedication to supporting
customers throughout the entire design process. We're very excited to add CAST products such as
their 8051 and USB cores to the Lattice extended IP product line," said Stan Kopec, Lattice vice
president of corporate marketing.
"Lattice's unique non-volatile and reconfigurable ispXPGA series, their popular and proven ORCA
line, and their other diverse PLD products are a great match for the demanding applications
typically built by CAST core customers," said Hal Barbour, president of CAST. "We're happy to
work with a partner whose insistence on quality and customer value are consistent with our own, and
we're already seeing interest in our ispLeverCORE Connection products."
Connection Cores from CAST
For the ispLeverCORE Connection program, CAST ports, optimizes, and tests their IP cores on several
Lattice devices. After review and approval from Lattice, each core is then available in netlist
format for purchase from CAST. The initial CAST Connection cores include:
Bus Interface Cores
CUSB: USB 1.1 Device Controller Core
CUSB2: USB 2.0 Device Controller Core
SPI_MS: Serial Peripheral Interface Master/Slave Core
Communication Cores
H16550S: UART with FIFOs and Synchronous CPU Interface Core
Processor, Controller & Peripheral Cores
C8051: Legacy-Speed 8-Bit Processor Core
R8051: 8-bit RISC-like Microcontroller Core
SDLC: Controller Core
Most of those cores were developed by CAST’s strategic partner, Evatronix SA www.evatronix.pl
.
Customers can find complete specs and implementation data for these cores on the Lattice website,
and should also check there for the latest additions to CAST’s growing Connection Cores
library (www.latticesemi.com/products/devtools/ip/cast/index.cfm).
